Cate, I just posted a photo of this and Dutchman's Breeches for my Wordless Wednesday post. Your photo is wonderful. I'm thrilled to have these growing on my land, which was cow pasture before we lived here. In 11 years, the wild edges have grown up and some beloved wildflowers from my childhood are appearing as if "by magic." (Nature's magic!)
These are the wandering journeys of a thoughtful mind, a passionate eye, a fey wit and an earth loving heart through the landscape with camera in hand.
Catherine (Cate) Kerr is a freelance photographer, writer, editor and graphic designer with her roots firmly planted in the good dark soil of the eastern Ontario highlands. She is an ardent seeker, a naturalist and a wordsmith, a student of deep ecology in this and many other lifetimes, a devotee of untrodden lands, of twilight, full moons, liminal places and the wild wisdom which sustains the cosmos.

One of the most beautiful novels of the year has to be Kim Antieau's The Church of the Old Mermaids. The book sparkles like the Old Sea, and it's brimming with wit, magic, wisdom and elemental truth. COTOM has its very own blog, and the book which is published by the Rose Fairy Emporium can be ordered from Amazon here.
Doors to the Universe, Dolores Stewart
Bellowing Ark Press has published a gorgeous volume of poetry by Dolores Stewart Riccio (writing as Dolores Stewart) called Doors to the Universe. This wise and thoughtful work flows like a winding river, and I dip into it oftentimes for nurture and comfort. Doors can be ordered online at Bellowing Ark Press, and subscriptions to their superb literary journal are available there too.
To return to our senses is to renew our bond with wider life, to feel the soil beneath the pavement, to sense — even when indoors — the moon's gaze upon the roof. David Abram, The Spell of the Sensuous
It began in mystery, and it will end in mystery, but what a savage and beautiful country lies in between. Diane Ackerman, A Natural History of the Senses
When we deliberately leave the safety of the shores of our lives, we surrender to a mystery beyond our intent. Ann Linnea, Deep Passage
