Solo in Moonlight
In the moonlight, an August blooming of the David Austin rose in my garden which is called simply "Heritage".
Last night, the perfect shape and glowing petals were an earthly counterpoint to the rising moon above, golden and almost full. The moon poured its light out over the garden, and the rose lifted its face, gifting the moon in return with its own light and fragrance and song.
To my mind, there were the core elements of good counterpoint - a flowing lyrical relationship between two entities independent in their contour and rhythm, but seamlessly interwoven in lineament and harmony. Moon and rose were exquisite in themselves, but together they formed something better and a greater wholeness - just as Cassie and I did for so many years. True companions, we complemented each other perfectly.

We see you, hear you, now solo in moonlight.
I have a little cat who came to me as a spiritual gift. She is quite young but a wonderful, loving companion. Your story of Cassie has touched me deeply. Thank you for sharing this journey. Many blessings.
